When in the middle of a dark/ tough time, it’s easy to hang on to the feeling that the dark period will last indefinitely.
Right now, there’s worry about what the future may look like, -a lot of uncertainty, anxiety, fear… Most of us are currently in this space.
However, if we took a moment and reflected on a dark time that we’ve lived through, we’d remember how we survived the darkest, most painful and hopeless situation. How we eventually overcame, bounced back or slowly rebuilt our lives moment by moment.
Adversity eventually comes to pass. We build resilience from the most traumatic events and forge forward.
Sure, it’s a painful time, the suffering is real, the losses massive, the grief so real and deep,… I’d hope that we would all find some little strength within ourselves (especially during this time) so we can keep doing the next thing in the meantime. The small little things that give meaning to our day. Take care of yourself, and your body. Look out for your loved ones. Clean the dishes. Bask a little in the sun. Read a book. Play with a child. Take time to reflect on little lessons learned along the way. Pause. Breath. Meditate. Reach out to a friend. Have a healthy meal. Be present.
Remember, we have the amazing ability to come back from the worst of situations, eventually. If only we can try and remember that all seasons are impermanent.
Eventually, when the time comes, we shall begin to rebuild a little at a time.
